The Tortoise and the Hare
The Hare was once boasting before the other animals. "I have never yet been beaten," said he, "and I will challenge any one here to a race."
The Tortoise said quietly, "I accept your challenge."
"Now that is funny!" said the Hare, "I could dance 'round you all the way to the finish line, Tortoise... all the way!"
"Save your boasting until you've beaten me," answered the Tortoise. "Shall we have our race?"
So a race was arranged and with the blow of a whistle, they were off. The Hare decided to have a little fun from the start and began to dance around the Tortoise, just as he said he could. The Hare then took off and since he was so much faster he figured he would win too easily, so to show off some more he stopped to have a nap. The Tortoise plodded on and plodded on, and when the Hare was finished his nap, he saw the Tortoise had almost won. He could not make it in time to save the race and the Hare was beaten at his own game.
Then, said the Tortoise, "Slow and steady wins the race. Now it is my turn to dance around you!" Disco music began to play and the Tortoise did a slow yet graceful dance around the Hare, while all the animals watched and giggled.
